Researchers compare COVID-19 vaccination status with pregnancy outcomes in approximately 900 women and find no association between vaccination and miscarriage.
There is no link between the COVID-19 vaccine and miscarriage, a latest studyfinds.
While the virus itself poses significant risks to pregnant women, including preterm birth and maternal death, vaccination rates remain low due to misinformation about the vaccine’s safety.
In this new study, Yale researchers analyzed records from the Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), which “monitors the safety of vaccines and conducts studies on adverse events.”
The researchers compared 296 patients who suffered a miscarriage with 592 who had a healthy birth and found no association between COVID-19 vaccination and pregnancy loss.
The number of vaccine doses, the type of vaccine and the timing of the vaccination were also not linked to miscarriage.
The lead investigator says, “We hope that data such as ours are providing increasing reassurance that the vaccine is safe, and that we will see those rates go up.”
