Hollow cheeks and sagging skin are driving more weight-loss patients to the plastic surgeon; a new survey finds.
A new and surprising side effect from GLP-1 weight loss drugs is boosting business for plastic surgeons.
Facial plastic surgeons report a 50 percent rise in the number of people requesting fat-grafting procedures for what’s been dubbed ‘Ozempic Face.’
“While these drugs are highly effective at achieving rapid weight loss, they often result in issues like volume loss and sagging skin,” says Dr. Patrick Byrne, President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Facial procedures related to GLP-1 use may be trending, but they aren’t the most popular yet, according to a new survey from the Academy.
Nose jobs, facelifts and eye lifts remained the most requested plastic surgeries in 2024. And surgeons who took part in the survey say their facelift patients are getting younger.
On the non-surgical side, Botox and dermal fillers continue to dominate, accounting for 80% of total treatments. And more men are giving them a try.
Hair transplantation remains the only procedure where men significantly outnumber women.
