Dietary nitrates are nutrients found in green leafy vegetables and most notably found in beetroots. Nitrates have been found by researchers to promote healthy outcomes and prevent disease in people who consume regular amounts of vegetables and beetroot juice or extracts.
Nitrates can provide a natural way to boost biological available nitric oxide in the human body, which can have a beneficial effect on blood pressure and vascular health. Moreover, researchers suggest that nitrates can be beneficial for your circulatory system and your heart.
Beetroot combats inflammation
Nitrates from the beetroot are often consumed as beetroot juice with no added sugars or sweeteners. Beetroot is considered a treatment to combat oxidative stress and inflammation. Oxidative stress occurs due to biological imbalances in the body and results in damage to tissue, cells, and organs if the imbalance such as toxins and waste is not balanced. Often, oxidative stress is balanced as a result of other chemical processes, good nutrition, adequate sleep, and daily exercise. Research suggests beetroot juice and extracts can enhance or expedite recovery from oxidative stress that occurs in our body on a daily basis.
Exercise boost nitric oxide
Other research suggests dietary nitrates and nitric oxide alone are not the sole reason for enhanced health benefits. In human studies, many other variables influence health outcomes such as exercise, dietary habits, and genetics. More often than not, healthier people are more likely to eat green leafy vegetables and perhaps drink beetroot juice. In addition to diet and nutrition, exercise can boost nitric oxide and improve vascular health.
In the end, dietary nitrates can help, exercise is required, and the combination of supplementing with beetroot juice or extracts, eating green leafy vegetables, and engaging in vigorous exercise can have lasting positive effects on your health and well-being.
